MELANIE EVANS was the winner of the Daphne Shield with a total of 34 points when it was contested by EGC ladies at the end of April. Val Lemon was runner-up with 32 points.

The Whitehouse Cups were played for on Sunday and winners of this foursomes medal, in which 36 players took part, were Neville Ashman and Marlene Billings with 74 nett.

In second place were Mark Harrison and Melanie Evans with 75.5 nett and third were Ian Hughes and Ruth Masters with 77 nett.

THE RECENT wet weather has taken its toll on golf matches, including Evesham GC seniors’ recent fixtures against Bransford and The Vale.

However, last Wednesday’s home match against Puckrup Hall was able to go ahead as the sun finally shone again and Evesham welcomed the Puckrup Manor team to Craycombe Links.

All seniors matches are enjoyable contests and, historically, none more so than with Puckrup.

On this occasion Evesham ran out convincing 5-1 winners as current Evesham seniors captain Mike Abraham continued to lead from the front, winning his game 5&3 with playing partner Ray Smart.

Mike Whiteford and Bryan Rogers were even more convincing winners at 6&3, whilst Peter Edmunds/Richard Saville, Neil Croft/Martin Williams and Ian Facer/Peter Ratledge all won.

And the sole losing couple? As one of them was the Evesham seniors’ press officer, they shall remain nameless!
