Strugglers Ashton stun promotion-chasers

ASHTON-UNDER-HILL, who are bottom of Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Two, produced an excellent performance to put a serious dent in Fladbury Athletic's promotion hopes with a 4-2 home win.

Clements scored twice for Fladbury but the home side struck back with goals from White (2), James and Radford.

Stour Excelsior won 3-1 at Offenham Park Rangers with goals from Pratt (2) and Dunsby.

Cheltenham Saints lifted the GFA Sunday Intermediate Cup with an impressive 4-0 victory over Gloucester side Blackbridge and hopefully this is the first leg of a unique treble for Evesham league teams in this season's GFA competitions.

Lenches Lions maintained their promotion push in Division Three with a 6-0 win at Pebworth as the goals came from Evans (3), Jordan, Davies and Draper. The defeat means Pebworth are relegated.

Tewkesbury Town continued their recent good form by taking the local honours against Black Bear Reserves as Pepperal, Goodwin, Barnfield and Shaw scored in a 4-2 away success.

The top three all recorded victories in Division Four, with leaders Pershore Athletic triumphing 4-2 at home to Elmley Castle.

All of the hosts' goals came before the break through Cross, Hinchcliffe, Ridings and Sheen before Castle netted through Smith and Bate.

Broadway United Reserves won 4-0 at Cider Mill Reserves with goals from Mann (2), Skinner and Peters and free-scoring Ambassador thrashed visitors Oberthur 9-1 with goals from Williams (4), Cox (3) and Keay (2).

Alcester Town defeated visitors Sun Inn 6-5 in a thriller as Beach found the net four times for Alcester and Stager bagged a treble for Sun Inn.

Stour Excelsior Reserves drew 1-1 at home to George & Dragon, with Coe on target for Stour and Hart for the Dragon.

The top of the table clash in Division One ended with honours even as Bretforton Old Boys led through Brown but were left to rue several missed chances as a last minute penalty from Jake Pettitt earned visitors Black Bear a point in a 1-1 draw.

Cider Mill won 5-2 at Golden Cross with goals from Ballard (2), Kerr, Heritage and Bullock.

Red Horse were 2-0 up at half time in the Worcester Nursing Cup final against Heenans, but the Worcester team fought back to win 3-2 after extra time.

In front of a healthy crowd at Pershore Town, a double from Adam Izod saw Pinvin United reach the Pershore Hospital Junior Cup final as they defeated Broadway United, for whom Craig scored, 2-1.

In the Minor Cup third round, Evesham WMC won 3-2 at Defford & Besford United, Bear won 3-2 at home to WMK, Alderton were 4-1 home winners over Eckington and AC Olympia eased to a 6-0 success at Anchor Harriers.
