ECKINGTON U9 Juniors clinched the Ambassador Evesham League title in fine style with a 9-1 victory at Sheppey Swifts.

Juniors' closest rivals Broadway Youth were facing a tough contest with Lenches and, with the table-topping sides locked level on points, a cliffhanger was on the cards.

Eckington were in brilliant form as they tore into Sheppey chasing the crucial win. Wave after wave of Eckington attacks led to a string of chances and Basty Brothwood fired in the opener, before Tristan Webby headed in two goals, the second a fine diving header from a Jacey Emms corner.

The Sheppey keeper was in fine form, managing to keep the score to 3-0 at half time, but Eckington continued to dominate the hardworking Sheppey side and extended their lead as Richie Durie headed in two fine goals.

Aaron Evans-Harriott powered in a header and Emms and Webby completed hat-tricks as Eckington gained their much-needed victory.

Broadway Youth could not overcome their difficult opponents, Lenches, losing a tightly contested game 2-1.

The defeat was enough to earn Eckington Juniors the league title and, having completed a remarkable league campaign, Eckington can look forward to the cup final with their confidence sky-high.

They now face close rivals Drakes Broughton later in April as they hope to clinch the league and cup double, which would represent an amazing achievement for the side.

ECKINGTON U11 JFC contested an exciting 3-3 draw at Alcester Town.

After some sustained pressure Eckington forced Alcester into conceding an own goal for the opener before George Kirtland threaded a fine ball to Ben Oliver who coolly slotted home a fine shot into the far corner to give Eckington their deserved second.

Alcester forced their way back into the game with a looping shot on the stroke of half time but Eckington stunned the home side with a well taken third goal as Max Brothwood fired in a crisp shot.

However, Alcester played with great determination and struck twice more to salvage a point.
