THERE will be plenty of laughter in Evesham next month when another batch of talented and rising comedians take to the stand-up stage.
After a sell-out session in March, Evesham Arts Centre's Raw Comedy nights return on Thursday, May 10. The show offers new and upcoming comedians the chance to hone their skills on the big stage with their own material.
Performing and providing the laughs at the Victoria Avenue venue are David Hannant, a smiley young man who fears technology and believes the Earth is flat, Matt Leigh, who's been crazy about comedy since childhood and has finally made it onto the stage. He's even had his picture taken with Jasper Carrott!
Also performing are Lovdev Barpaga who does dead-pan one-liners with the odd short story thrown in, Richard Wood who is young, cocksure and weird but in a good way, Gwilum Argos, who mostly tells jokes that have punchlines and Robert Cauwood who runs comedy nights in Bristol and might be a spy. The master of ceremonies is Damian Kingsley whose dry observations, jokes and storytelling have been raising a laugh at clubs, festivals and colleges since he got on stage in Tokyo in 2006.
The show starts at 8pm but strong language is likely so audience members must be at least 16-years-old.
Tickets cost £5 on the door, £4 in advance or just £3 for Arts Centre members, students and concessions and are available by by visiting www.eveshamartscentre.co.uk or calling Evesham Almonry on 01386 446944.
