Bear clinch impressive victory

BEAR FC moved into second place in Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Three by inflicting only a second league defeat of the season on AC Olympia.

The prolific Liam Scrivens scored both goals for the Bear in their 2-1 home win, with Barnes netting for Olympia.

Leaders Tesco United were held 2-2 at home by Wickhamford Sports as Brotherton and Meredith scored for Tesco and Griffiths and Gibbons were on target for Wickhamford.

Lenches Lions were held 3-3 at home by Black Bear Reserves whilst Gary Dyke scored twice and further goals from Malin and Beasley earned Gardeners Arms the points in a 4-1 success at Badsey Recreation.

Tewkesbury Town comfortably won 7-1 at Pebworth with goals from Morris (2), Tarling, Halling, Kavanagh, Goodwin and Smith.

Pershore Athletic won the Division Four promotion battle with visitors Ambassador 3-1 thanks to goals from Worthington (2) and Hinchcliffe, whilst Broadway United Reserves stay second after a 4-0 victory at Sun Inn as Peters (2), Berryman and Skinner found the net.

Crenan and Quantrell both scored twice as Anchor Harriers moved third with a 6-0 win at Oberthur and two own goals handed Cider Mill Reserves the points in a 2-1 triumph at Trumpet.

George & Dragon powered to a 9-2 home win over Alcester Town whose recent good run came to an abrupt halt as Hart (4) and McCall (2) got amongst the goals.

Hosts Elmley Castle and Stour Excelsior Reserves shared six goals with Matt Cotton scoring twice for Elmley.

Black Bear moved back to the top of Division One as Jake Pettitt hit six in their 8-2 home win over Cider Mill and Red Horse fired seven without reply against visitors Mickleton Rangers through Mills (3), Baird (2), Staley and Sean Brain.

Broadway United defeated visitors Honeybourne Gate Inn 3-0 with goals from Ben Horsburgh, Jason Horsburgh and Cooper.

Goals from Gayton (2) and Wallace booked Bretforton Old Boys a place in the Evesham Mechanical Services KO Cup final at the expense of visitors Eckington for whom Malone scored in their 3-1 loss.

Division Two leaders Defford & Besford United drew 1-1 at third placed Fladbury Athletic, with Clements on target for the home team and Thomas netting for Defford.

Alderton dropped points at home to Cheltenham Saints despite a Greaves double, as Saints scored through Beacham, Gibbs and Hope to prevail 3-2.

Stour Excelsior defeated visitors Offenham Rovers 3-0 with goals from Harris, Wellsby and Carr, whilst WMK defeated visitors Bredon 4-2 with goals from Naser, Witts, Beckingham and Leeming.

There was heartbreak for Evesham WMC as they lost 2-0 in the semi-finals of the WFA Sunday Minor Cup at Worcester-based AFC Heenans Reserves.
