A VALE firm has been chosen to help save lives if a natural disaster strikes anywhere on the globe.
Evenproducts based on The Oxstalls at Blaneys Lane, Evesham, is one of 34 business in the UK to be invited by the Government to join a group which will help mobilise life saving support in the critical hours after an international crisis.
The new network, called the Rapid Response Facility, will allow each organisation access to vital funding within hours and reach affected people soon after a disaster has taken place.
This is in huge contrast to the existing process in which organisations have to tie up vital paperwork documents before deploying to the devastated area.
The creation of this network means it is the first time a British Government has merged together the power of the private sector as well as non-governmental organisations for emergency relief.
Evenproducts, which manufactures water storage equipment to provide humanitarian aid-relief, were called to save the lives of people in the Philippines at the end of last year after a typhoon devastated parts of the Far East.
Jenny Rohde, humanitarian aid director at Evenproducts, said everyone at the firm was thrilled the Government had selected them to join the response team.
"We were delighted to be approached by the Department for International Development to join this small network of humanitarian aid specialists," she said.
"We have valuable expertise in disaster response honed over many years and have built a committed and dynamic team which springs into action at short notice to deliver essential water and sanitation equipment to disaster-struck communities."
International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell added: "Clearly we need our best experts, equipment and aid on the scene as quickly as possible after a disaster, not tied up in red tape.
"These organisations represent the very best performing disaster response agencies and this will allow them to focus on delivery. Make no mistake, however, qualification for the fund will be revoked at the first sign of poor performance."
