THE ROUTE the Olympic Torch Relay will take on its journey through the Vale has been revealed.
Hundreds of people are set to the line the streets to greet the arrival of the iconic flame on Sunday, July 1 as part of its 70 day tour of more than 1,000 UK destinations.
And for the first time we can reveal the street-by-street journey the torch will take on its way through Evesham, Wickhamford and Broadway before moving through the Cotswolds.
The flame will be carried by torchbearers, each with their own inspirational story to tell, starting in Birmingham at 6.03am and then through Solihull, Redditch and Alcester before arriving in Evesham at 11.21am.
From the top of Greenhill the torch will then move down through the High Street and Abbey Road before finishing in Cheltenham Road at the junction with Thistledown Road at 11.55am.
Just after midday the flame is set to arrive at Wayside Farm Shop in Wickhamford and will be carried along Pitchers Hill.
Finally the torch will arrive in Station Road in Broadway at 12.10pm before the torchbearers carry it along High Street and up to the finishing point in Leamington Road. The flame will then move onto Chipping Campden at 12.30pm.
The crowds which gather to witness the historic event will be kept entertained by performances from the W-Factor winners, sporting groups will be demonstrating their skills and give people the chance to try out a new sport and farmer's markets will showcase the Vale's finest produce.
Coun Ron Davis, board member for community and personal health and welfare, said: "We’re working with local community groups to make the celebrations for the Olympic Torch something to remember.
"This is a momentous occasion and we hope that residents will come out in their hundreds to enjoy the spectacle and share a special day with family and friends in true Olympic spirit style."
