YOUNG women in the Vale are being urged to make use of a special project which could give them a step ahead in life.

The Chrysalis Project is a free course for young women aged 16 to 19 held at Beacon Employment in Evesham High Street but its leaders are worried not enough people know they exist.

The project helps some of the area's most vulnerable young women with sessions designed to improve self-esteem and confidence and develop new skills.

People who use the service can also gain NCFE qualifications.

Karen Brocksom, one of the trainers at the project, said: "The Chrysalis Project is much needed in our area.

"The project offers social and recreational activities and in some cases there may be a small bursary for attendees.

"There is nothing else like this in the area and we have places for up to 12 young women.

"You can join in with leisure activities, make new friends and develop new skills. We can help you find a work placement, prepare for interviews and much more.

"It is a safe, friendly, female environment."

The Chrysalis Project takes place every Thursday and Friday at Beacon Employment, located at 103 High Street, Evesham, from 10am to 3pm.

Women up to the age of 24 will also be considered depending on circumstances.

To secure a place or to find out more, anyone interested can contact Karen Brocksom or Elaine Bostock on 08448 156145 ext 256 or 07500105361 or just call into the office.
